Sheril Reddell Viau  – biography

I am lucky to be a lifetime resident of the central coast.  I grew up in Cayucos and Morro Bay. I  have lived in Nipomo for 24 years.  Many people in my family are artists including  my mother, Dorothy Reddell, who was a successful oil painter in Morro Bay and Atascadero. My daughter, Amanda Viau Rotta , is a  graphic designer.    I have always loved art and took many art classes in high school and college. At one time, I planned on becoming an art teacher, but life happened and I became a Special Education Teacher. After retiring from Orcutt School District a few years ago, I was able to revisit my dream of becoming an artist. I have studied watercolor with local artists, JoNeal Boic and Sandra Johnson. I am a member of the Central Coast Watercolor Society.

My style involves lots of color. I enjoy the way watercolors flow freely, but I usually add lots of detail In the main areas of interest. I like some parts of my paintings to look semi – realistic. I especially enjoy painting flowers and landscapes.

In addition to watercolors, I am also a photographer. Many of my photos are available for prints and canvases.
